Pull back type Self Cleaning filter is constructed of a filter housing, filter element, pull back valve, differential pressure gauge, differential pressure switch, dust extraction assembly, geared motor with sensor, and control panel.
Filter housing can be offered in a variety of materials, such as various grades of stainless steel, carbon steel, and alloy metal. Filter elements can also be offered in wedge wire, multi layered wire mesh, and plain wire mesh configurations, depending upon process requirements. These filters can offer filtration levels starting from 1 micron to 2000 microns. They are designed to deliver flow rates up to 2000 m3/hr, or even more than that with a parallel configuration.
Working Principle:
A dust extraction assembly that rotates inside the surface of the filter element and moves upward and downward to ensure proper cleaning of the filter element throughout the area is used to construct the filter element cleaning mechanism. The dust extraction assembly is constructed of precisely designed nozzles at a predefined distance from the filter element surface. Such nozzles are equally placed perpendicular to the centre pipe, which rotates with the help of a geared motor at a defined speed. The dust extraction assembly is also connected to a Pull back valve that has finally opened up the atmosphere. Once differential pressure reaches its preset level, the control panel sends a signal to the pull back valve to open. The pressure difference between the filter element and the surrounding atmosphere causes high suction inside the filter element. Due to this suction pressure, debris or cake deposited on the surface of the elements is pulled out through nozzles and finally discharged from the filter housing through the flushing line. A jet pressure is created by high water velocities within the nozzle to remove sticky cake deposition even with a small opening. Depending on the size of the filter element, the entire backflushing process takes 30-60 seconds.

Pull-back type self-cleaning filters

Pull-back type self-cleaning filters are advanced filtration systems used in various industrial applications to remove solid particles and contaminants from liquids. These filters are designed to automatically clean themselves without interrupting the flow of the process fluid, ensuring continuous operation and reducing maintenance requirements.

The operation of pull-back type self-cleaning filters involves a unique cleaning mechanism. The filter element, typically a stainless steel screen or mesh, is positioned inside a housing or chamber. The process fluid enters the housing and flows through the filter element, capturing solid particles and contaminants on the surface.

As the contaminants accumulate on the filter element, the pressure drop across the filter increases. This triggers the cleaning process. The filter has a mechanism that causes the element to be temporarily pulled back from the flow path, creating a backwash effect. The pressure differential forces a portion of the filtered fluid to flow backward through the filter element, dislodging and carrying away the accumulated contaminants.

Once the backwash cycle is complete, the filter element is pushed back into its original position, and the normal filtration operation resumes. The entire cleaning process is automated and can be controlled by a timer, differential pressure switch, or other monitoring devices.

Pull-back type self-cleaning filters offer several advantages in industrial applications. Firstly, they provide continuous filtration without the need for manual intervention or shutdowns. This eliminates downtime and ensures uninterrupted production or processing.

Secondly, these filters offer efficient cleaning and particle removal. The backwash mechanism effectively dislodges and removes the accumulated contaminants from the filter element, restoring its filtration efficiency. This helps maintain consistent filtration performance and prevents pressure drop build-up, ensuring optimal system operation.

Another advantage of pull-back type self-cleaning filters is their versatility. They can be used in a wide range of liquid filtration applications, including water treatment, chemical processing, oil and gas, food and beverage, and many others. The filters are available in various sizes and configurations to accommodate different flow rates and particle size requirements.

Maintenance of pull-back type self-cleaning filters typically involves periodic inspection and cleaning of the filter element. Depending on the application and process conditions, the frequency of maintenance can vary. The filter elements can be easily accessed and cleaned, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal filter performance.

In summary, pull-back type self-cleaning filters provide efficient and automated filtration solutions for industrial applications. Their ability to continuously remove solid particles and contaminants while maintaining consistent flow and filtration performance makes them valuable in various industries. By eliminating manual cleaning and interruptions in the process, these filters contribute to improved productivity, reduced maintenance costs, and enhanced product quality.
