Contaminated fluid enters the housing and is distributed evenly around the filter cartridges. Filtration takes place from outside to inside. Solids are collected on the outside of filter cartridges, and clear filtrate is collected at the outlet.
Cartridge Filter Housing
The cartridge filter housing system has a variety of flow and contaminant holding capacities. Its diameter can accommodate between 1 to 250 cartridges. Cartridge filters are normally used as polishing filters in almost all types of process industries. Depending on the type of cartridge and end connections used, these filters are made up of filter housing, filter cartridges, tube sheets, and a positive sealing arrangement for cartridges. A positive sealing arrangement for cartridge filters assures there is no particle or fiber migration, even after high differential pressures.

Cartridge Filter Housing - Candle Filter Housing

A cartridge filter housing is an essential component used in various industries for filtration purposes. It provides a secure and efficient enclosure for cartridge filters, which are designed to remove contaminants and impurities from liquids or gases. Cartridge filter housings come in different sizes, materials, and configurations to meet the diverse needs of filtration applications.

The primary function of a cartridge filter housing is to hold one or multiple cartridge filters in place while facilitating the filtration process. The housing typically consists of a cylindrical or rectangular chamber with inlet and outlet connections for the fluid or gas flow. It is constructed using durable materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, or plastic, depending on the operating conditions and the compatibility with the filtration media.

The cartridge filters themselves are inserted into the housing, where they effectively trap and retain particles or contaminants suspended in the fluid or gas stream. These filters are available in a wide range of materials and configurations, including pleated, wound, melt-blown, activated carbon, and membrane filters. They can be selected based on the specific filtration requirements, such as particle size, flow rate, chemical compatibility, and filtration efficiency.

Cartridge filter housings offer several advantages in filtration applications. First and foremost, they provide a secure enclosure for the filters, ensuring that the filtration process is efficient and reliable. The housing prevents bypassing of the fluid or gas, forcing it to pass through the filter media, thus maximizing the filtration efficiency. It also helps protect the filters from damage or premature clogging, extending their lifespan and reducing maintenance frequency.

Furthermore, cartridge filter housings are designed for easy installation, operation, and maintenance. They typically feature quick-opening mechanisms, such as swing bolts or clamp closures, allowing for convenient cartridge replacement or cleaning. The housings may also incorporate pressure gauges or differential pressure indicators to monitor the filter's performance and determine when maintenance or replacement is required.

The versatility of cartridge filter housings makes them suitable for various applications across industries. They are commonly used in water treatment systems, chemical processing plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage production, oil and gas refineries, and many other industrial processes where the removal of contaminants is crucial.

In conclusion, cartridge filter housings are vital components in filtration systems, providing a robust and efficient enclosure for cartridge filters. They play a significant role in maintaining the quality of liquids and gases by removing impurities, ensuring optimal performance, and protecting downstream equipment. With their versatility and ease of use, cartridge filter housings continue to be an integral part of filtration processes in numerous industries.
